YAO Chen | Waltz of the Rolling Giants (World Premiere, HK Phil Commission) CHOPIN | Piano Concerto no. 1 in E minor, op. 11 STRAVINSKY | The Firebird Suite (1919) Chopin Gold: A Return in E Minor International Chopin Competition Gold Medallist Eric Lu – who won with a masterful performance of Chopin’s Concerto in F minor – now turns to the composer’s Concerto in E minor, illuminating its lyricism and youthful ardour with his poetic voice. HK Phil Resident Conductor Lio Kuokman leads Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite, ablaze with orchestral fireworks, and the evening opens with Yao Chen’s newly commissioned Waltz of the Rolling Giants, written especially for the orchestra’s China and international tours in the 2026/27 season.
