Beginners Street Skating

About this event

Starting to rollerblade on the street amongst the cars can be intimidating. Some have found Wednesday Night Skate to be appealing but are not yet ready for those speeds. This will be a slow-paced 3-mile 4-5 mph skate from Pier 76 to Skater's Circle in Central Park for those who don't have experience skating in the street. We will not be returning to the pier as a group. Note: This is a beginner event but not an absolute beginner event. You should at least be able to stand on skates, move from one place to another, and brake (not T-stop necessarily, but at least plow stop). If you cannot do these things, please do not attend. If you do, you will be endangering not only yourself but also those around you. We will be going slow on inclines/in general. NYC Rollerbladers operates free of charge. We do encourage donations via the Pledge widget to help us cover the cost of operating on Meetup ($300/year).
