About this event

Join us for an afternoon with Marko Vučković a PhD student of interdisciplinary studies at York University (Canada) as we explore the relationship between various Atheisms and Theism and their ways of approaching Nothingness. This talk will focus on the question of "What do we find when we gaze at Absolute Nothingness?" The afternoon's program will include: • Speaker Presentation • Audience Q&A • Time to socialize (our venue includes a wonderful bar) Although you don't need prior philosophical background for this event, expect to be plunged into rigorous and intense philosophical thinking, reflection and debate as we tackle what meaning, if possible, can be derived from absolute nothingness (i.e. non-existence). Speaker (personally live-streaming to us from Canada) Marko Vučković is a PhD Student at the York University Department of Humanities in Toronto, Canada. His research interests are in the intersection of ontology, psychoanalysis, and postsecular theology cutting across the post-analytic and post-continental literary styles. Marko has most recently published a paper in Canada on the "transcendence" of the subject vis-a-vis signifier networks (using a category of a form of reified "ego ideal") to argue against the nonbinary logic used in object-oriented and speculative realist ontologies. Marko has completed two Masters degrees in analytical philosophy and philosophical theology. Marko is a secondary school teacher in Toronto, where he teaches philosophy, history, and law.
