The Awesomely Awkward Social Club: Connect, Chat & Be You
About this event
Welcome to The Awesomely Awkward Social Club—because connection doesn’t have to be perfect to be real. 🌟 This Month's Vibe: The Assumption Swap In this session of The Awesomely Awkward Social Club, we’re talking about the stories we make up in our heads about what other people think, mean, want, or expect from us. You know the ones. “They seemed quiet. Did I do something?” “They took a while to text back. Are they mad?” “That conversation was awkward. They probably think I’m weird.” “They did not invite me. Maybe they do not like me.” Most of us have had moments where one small thing turns into a full-blown internal investigation. A short text, a weird look, a canceled plan, a quiet room, or an awkward interaction can suddenly feel like proof that something is wrong. But a lot of the time, we do not actually know what the other person is thinking. We are filling in the blanks with our own fears, old experiences, and worst-case guesses. Tonight is about having fun with that tendency while also getting a little more honest about it. We’ll talk about the assumptions we make, the social situations we overanalyze, and the difference between what actually happened and the story our brains created afterward. Expect funny stories, relatable moments, and a room full of people who have absolutely reread a text too many times. Here’s what to expect: • Fun conversation starters about awkward moments, mixed signals, and overthinking • Breakout rooms to share the assumptions you tend to make in social situations • Light games around guessing what people might actually mean • Space to laugh at the stories our brains create when we do not have enough information • Real conversation about how to stop taking every interaction as a referendum on your worth Just come hang out, swap some assumptions, laugh at the weird things our brains do, and maybe leave feeling a little less alone in your overthinking. 💛
