Dear Dancers (and that is all of you), After all our Latin dancing… let’s try something completely different. 💃➡️🌊 Next Wednesday, we’re going to explore Ecstatic Dance together at Pllek, with one of the most loved DJs in the scene — Kareem Raïhani. Ecstatic Dance Amsterdam is hosting the official XL Cacao Summer Edition at Pllek, and we’re simply getting a group together to experience it, meet some new people and have a great evening by the water. 🌿 New to Ecstatic Dance? Perfect — you definitely don’t need to know what you’re doing. Ecstatic Dance is a free-form dance experience: no choreography, no partner required and no need to dance “well.” You simply move in whatever way feels natural to the music. One important difference from our usual parties: the dance floor itself is a no-talking space. The idea is to let the music, movement and your own experience take over for a while. The official event also keeps the dance floor phone-free, helping everyone stay present. That doesn’t mean we won’t socialise! We’ll meet before the dance, introduce ourselves and get comfortable together — and Pllek remains open after the session, so anyone who feels like it can stay for a drink, conversation and some post-dance mingling. ✨ What is happening? The evening starts with an opening cacao ritual and live music, followed by an extended Ecstatic Dance journey with Kareem Raïhani. Because of the ticket price, this will probably be a smaller group of people who really want to experience it. Come alone or bring a friend. No pressure to be wild, spiritual, a great dancer — or anything else. 😄 We’re just trying something new together. After all the Latin dancing, maybe it’s time to find out what happens when nobody tells us the steps. 🌅 This could be perfect if you: • love music and movement but don’t necessarily consider yourself “a dancer” • are curious about ecstatic dance and want to try it with a friendly group • enjoy immersive experiences where you can switch off your phone and be present • are comfortable dancing without alcohol, choreography or conversation on the dance floor • want to meet people before and after, while letting the actual dance be its own experience First-timers are very welcome. You don’t need to know any moves or understand ecstatic dance culture beforehand. This might not be your evening if… You mainly want a normal party where you can chat throughout, drink on the dance floor, take videos, or spend most of the evening socialising rather than dancing.
