Event Description: Childcare is expensive, and proposed policy solutions too often involve increased government spending without addressing the underlying costs. Alex J. Adams, assistant secretary for family support at the US Department of Health and Human Services, will discuss the current state of childcare policy and his efforts to expand childcare choices for families. Previously, as Idaho’s director of health and welfare, Adams led a comprehensive regulatory review that helped make Idaho a national model for childcare freedom. Economist Anna Claire Flowers, coauthor of the State Childcare Regulations Index (https://www.archbridgeinstitute.org/state-childcare-regulations-index/), will discuss research on how reducing regulatory burdens can expand childcare options and lower costs for families. About the Speakers: \* Alex J. Adams is the Assistant Secretary for Family Support leading the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the US Department of Health and Human Services. He holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Johns Hopkins. \* Anna Claire Flowers is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Berry College and a Family Policy Fellow at the Archbridge Institute. She holds a PhD in Economics from George Mason University. \* Chelsea Follett is a Research Fellow at the Cato Institute'sCenter for Global Liberty & Prosperity, as well as the managing editor of Human​Progress​.org. She's also a mother of four who has studied how to make raising children more affordable. She holds a MA in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia.
