Speed Friending for Writers with SFU The Writer’s Studio
About this event
Adults, Seniors, Teens. We know it’s tough to make friends in Vancouver, but it can be even harder to find ones with the same literary interests as you. We’re teaming up with SFU’s The Writer’s Studio to help you make some writerly friends that want to share all things CanLit and beyond. Can pantsters and plotters even get along with each other? Bring a two-line sample of your writing, your favourite book passage, or a writing question you’ve been pondering to discuss at this fun, in-person event at Central Library. You'll have ten minutes with another writer to chat about your conversation starter item and to see if there is a friendship connection. We’ll also have some guiding questions available if all of sudden you are at a loss for words. Then like all good things, it’ll be time to move on. Maybe you'll find people interested in forming a writing group or attending literary events together. At the very least you'll have a bunch of interesting conversations with other writers who share similar interests. This event is open to all writers with limited space available and takes place in the Yosef Wosk Poets’ Corner on Level 9 of Central Library. *Light refreshments and book prizes will be available. --- Registration is required and this event will be capped at 20 writers, so sign up early! ***If this event shows full, please sign up to be on the waitlist, so you will be the first to know about subsequent events if you don't get moved to the registered list before the event.
