UNMUTED: Black Women, Menopause & Mental Health
About this event
UNMUTED: Black Women, Menopause & Mental Health Join The Abundant Woman for UNMUTED — an open and empowering virtual conversation exploring menopause, mental health and the experiences of Black women. Menopause can affect far more than physical health. Changes in mood, anxiety, sleep, confidence and emotional wellbeing can have a significant impact, yet these experiences are not always recognised or openly discussed. For Black women, cultural expectations, stigma and inequalities in healthcare can add further layers to the experience. This session creates space to talk about what too often goes unspoken. We’ll be joined by Dr Catherine Muyeba, who will share her expertise and insights into menopause and mental health, including research and the experiences of Black women. We’ll explore: • How menopause and perimenopause can affect mental and emotional wellbeing • Why Black women’s experiences can be overlooked • Recognising changes in mood, anxiety and other symptoms • The role of culture, stigma and expectations • How women can better understand and advocate for their health • Where to find support and reliable information There will also be an opportunity for questions and conversation. Whether you’re experiencing perimenopause or menopause yourself, supporting someone who is, or simply want to understand more, you’re warmly invited to join us. 📅 Thursday 15 October 2026 🕡 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM 📍 Online via Zoom 🎟 Free to attend Come as you are. Listen, learn, ask questions and be part of a conversation that deserves to be heard. It’s time to get UNMUTED.
