About this event

Join us as we tackle the second and concluding leg of our two-part Southern Ridges trail series! This Westbound leg takes us along the historical and nature-rich western segment. Covering approximately 5 km at a comfortable, conversational social pace, we will pass by colonial heritage sites, cross iconic architectural structures, walk elevated forest canopy trails, and trace historical WWII battlegrounds before descending into Kent Ridge. Afterward, unwind with fellow members over a social dinner at a relatively new air-conditioned food court! Be sure to hit "Join Group" on Evening Walks & Social Dinners (if you haven't done so yet) to stay updated on all our upcoming trail walks and social gatherings across Singapore! 👉 https://meetup.com/evening-walks-social-dinners?member_id=484174351 Event Schedule • 5:00 PM – Main Event: Meet at Labrador Park MRT Station, Exit A. (Please be punctual) • Optional Social Dinner: Wrap up the evening over great food and vibrant conversations at Makan Street in Geneo, conveniently linked to Kent Ridge MRT Station. The Route & Highlights We will cover the following key points of interest along this scenic trail: • Ex-Gillman Barracks: Walk along the eastern side of Alexandra Road past this former British military enclave built in 1936, now transformed into a lifestyle and contemporary art hub. • Alexandra Arch: Cross the striking 80m leaf-shaped pedestrian bridge spanning Alexandra Road. • HortPark: Stroll through the lush gardens and themed display paths. • Canopy Walk: Walk high above the rainforest floor along this elevated boardwalk connecting HortPark to Kent Ridge Park. • Kent Ridge Park & WWII History: Explore the historical battleground of the Battle of Pasir Panjang (1942). We will also pass by the historic Reflections at Bukit Chandu museum along the ridge. • Descent to Kent Ridge: Conclude our trail walk as we descend towards Kent Ridge MRT Station. If you are unable to rate 5 stars, please skip the rating altogether. To maintain a supportive environment for our volunteer team, members who leave sub-5-star ratings despite this guideline may be removed from the group and future events without further notice. Our Meetup Message Response Policy We will not be replying to Meetup messages from 2 hours before the event until the following day, as our hosts will be focused on managing the event and supporting attendees in person. For help during this period, please join our official WhatsApp group. Since we only add members after meeting them in person to keep our WhatsApp community safe, first-time participants should arrive a few minutes early to scan our WhatsApp QR code and gain access to live group support.
