Career Conversations & Real Connections – Meet, Share & Grow Together
About this event
A Guided Networking Session for Job Seekers,Career Switchers and Working Professionals Career growth is rarely achieved through applications and qualifications alone. Meaningful conversations, trusted professional relationships and timely introductions can open doors to opportunities that may never appear publicly. Career Conversations & Real Connections is returning as a guided and interactive networking session where you can meet others, exchange experiences and build relationships that go beyond simply adding another LinkedIn contact. This is not a traditional webinar or an unstructured networking room. You will be guided through purposeful conversations designed to help everyone participate, contribute and leave with useful connections. Event Outline Opening Conversation: Why Real Connections Matter We will begin with a short discussion on how professional relationships can support your career through: • Introductions and referrals • Access to unadvertised opportunities • Industry knowledge and career insights • Encouragement during career transitions • Relationships that continue beyond a single event Build Your Professional Introduction Learn how to introduce yourself clearly without reciting your entire resume or delivering an uncomfortable sales pitch. You will be guided to share: • Who you are and what you do • The experience or strengths you bring • What you are currently working towards • The opportunities, insights or connections you are seeking Guided Career Conversation Circles Participants will join small breakout groups for several guided conversations. Each round will have a different focus: Round 1: Your Career Story Share what you are currently doing, exploring or working towards in your professional journey. Round 2: Your Current Challenge or Opportunity Discuss a career challenge, decision or opportunity you are navigating and receive perspectives from others. Round 3: How We Can Support One Another Share one thing you may need and one way you could potentially help someone else—through advice, information, encouragement, an introduction or a useful resource. The purpose is not to collect as many contacts as possible. It is to have honest conversations and identify where genuine professional relationships may begin. Community Opportunity Exchange We will return to the main group for an optional sharing segment. Participants may: • Highlight a useful insight from their conversations • Share relevant job opportunities or professional resources • Ask for suggestions or introductions • Recognise someone who offered helpful support • Continue a conversation that may benefit the wider group Turning a Conversation Into a Lasting Connection Learn how to follow up naturally after the session without sounding transactional. We will cover: • What to include in your follow-up message • How to personalise a LinkedIn connection request • How to continue the relationship after the first conversation • When and how to offer assistance • How to stay connected without forcing the relationship Reflection and Closing We will conclude with a short reflection and practical next step. Before leaving, each participant will be encouraged to identify: • One person they intend to follow up with • One action they will take for their career • One way they can support someone else Why You Should Attend • Meet professionals beyond your existing network • Practise communicating your experience and career direction • Gain perspectives on a current career challenge • Discover opportunities, resources and useful information • Build more genuine professional relationships • Leave with clear follow-up actions rather than a list of forgotten contacts Who Should Attend This session is suitable for: • Job seekers • Career switchers • Professionals considering their next move • Individuals returning to the workforce • People looking to expand their professional community • Anyone willing to contribute, listen and support others You do no
