About this event

Family, culture, work, success, identity, and the lives we're taught to want. We've spent the first two conversations asking whether life needs a purpose at all. Now we turn the question inward: How much of what we call "purpose" did we actually choose? Maybe it's family. Children. Career. Religion. Achievement. Helping others. Leaving something behind. Becoming "somebody." None of those things are automatically empty or fake. But "this is my purpose" is a massive claim, especially when so many of the things we value were introduced to us long before we ever thought to question them. What happens when the thing you built your identity around changes, disappears, or gets fulfilled? Do you find another purpose? And if you can, what does that say about the first one? What do we actually mean by purpose? Is it different from a goal, a value, or a responsibility? Can it be inherited? Can your purpose depend on another person? Are we discovering meaning or building a story that makes life feel coherent? And if you reject the traditional script completely, are you actually free from it are you still defining yourself against it? or Maybe the real question isn't "What is your purpose?" Maybe it's: Who taught you that this was supposed to be it? A note on religion: Religious beliefs can absolutely shape how someone understands purpose, family, duty, and meaning, and you’re welcome to acknowledge that influence. For this discussion, though, we’ll try not to use religion as the final answer. The goal is to dig underneath our beliefs and ask where our ideas of purpose come from, how much we chose them, and how much we inherited from family, culture, community, or tradition This session is intentionally smaller than Parts 1 and 2 so everyone has room to speak, challenge ideas, and actually get into the weeds House Rule Cameras on when you can. We’re trying to talk to actual humans here, not a wall of initials. 😂 If you’re eating, moving around, dealing with something, or literally in the bathroom… obviously use your judgment Bring a drink, dinner, coffee, whatever. This is meant to feel relaxed. Just mute yourself if you’re chewing like your life depends on it Homework is highly encouraged. Not because there’s a quiz, but because it makes the conversation way more fun. Come with a thought, disagreement, question, favorite passage, terrible take, anything. If you want to throw in your two cents, give yourself something to work with You do not have to sound smart. You just have to engage. Ask the weird question. Challenge the idea. Change your mind halfway through. That’s the whole point. Talk it through. Let me see that brain in action in real time👀🧠 Basically: come prepared, come curious, and don’t be afraid to make the conversation messier.
