The Truth about Peptides
About this event
It’s hard to open a social media site these days without hearing about “peptides.” Although many known drugs are peptides (like insulin or thyroid), this term typically refers to a set of experimental compounds purporting to do everything from healing injuries to increasing longevity. Recent actions by the FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee (PCAC) put these drugs in an even greater spotlight as the committee recommended that 7 peptides be recategorized to allow them to be compounded and made available to patients. We will discuss what these compounds are, their current legal status, and whether the literature supports the PCAC’s recommendation.
