About this event

Do you sometimes want to talk to someone, but your mind suddenly goes blank? Maybe you're at a social event, meeting new colleagues, talking to someone you don't know well, or simply trying to start a conversation and thinking: “What am I supposed to say?” Starting a conversation doesn't have to depend on being naturally outgoing or always having something interesting to say. In this interactive online coaching session, we'll explore practical ways to make starting conversations feel easier and more natural. We'll use ideas from my Connectability framework to look at what happens before and during those first few moments of a conversation. We'll explore: • Why our mind can suddenly go blank when we feel pressure to say something • How to take some of that pressure off yourself • Simple ways to start a conversation without relying on clever opening lines • How to identify topics you genuinely enjoy talking about • How to use curiosity to find things to ask • How to listen for small details that can open up a conversation • What to do when a conversation simply isn't flowing • Why silence doesn't necessarily mean something has gone wrong We'll also look at how to build your own small bank of questions and topics, so you have something to fall back on when you don't know what to say. This is an interactive coaching session. This isn't a webinar where you just sit and listen. I'll share practical ideas and tools you can use, but I'll also ask questions and invite you to reflect on your own experiences. To make the session more personal and useful, please come ready to turn your camera on and join the conversation. You won't be put on the spot or expected to give perfect answers. The idea is simply to learn from each other and practise connecting in a friendly environment. Depending on the group size, we may also try a short conversation exercise together. You don't need to be naturally outgoing or great at small talk. Come as you are. You'll leave with practical ideas and one small challenge to try in your conversations during the following week. About your host I'm Pavel Lipovsky, a communication coach and speaker. My interest in communication comes from years of working with people, as well as my own experience moving to another country and building relationships and a social network from scratch. I created Connectability around a simple idea: better communication isn't only about what we say. It's about understanding ourselves, understanding others, and learning how to connect genuinely.
