How Do You Move On Without Closure?
About this event
Some endings come with a conversation, an explanation, and a clear understanding of what happened. Others come with silence, unanswered questions, mixed messages, or an explanation that does not make any sense. A relationship ends. A friend disappears. A family member refuses to acknowledge what happened. Someone hurts you and moves on without ever taking responsibility. You are left trying to finish a story when important pages are missing. It is hard to move on when your mind keeps returning to the same questions: • What really happened? • Why did they do that? • Did I misunderstand the entire relationship? • Was any of it real? • What did I do wrong? • Will they ever realize how much they hurt me? • How am I supposed to let this go when nothing was resolved? In this session, we’ll talk about why the mind has such a difficult time with unfinished endings and why getting more information does not always bring the relief we imagine it will. We’ll cover: • Why unanswered questions keep us mentally attached • The difference between wanting information, an apology, and a different outcome • Why some people cannot or will not give us an honest explanation • How to recognize when searching for answers is keeping you stuck • What to do when the explanation you received does not feel like enough • How to stop replaying conversations and imagining what you should have said • What it actually means to create closure for yourself • How to accept an ending without pretending it was fair, acceptable, or easy You may never fully understand why someone made the choices they made. But you can understand enough about what happened, what it cost you, and what you want to do differently from here.
