About this event

The question of God's existence, religion, and life after death has been humanity's greatest mystery for all of our known history. The subject remains unknown and unprovable. Yet a majority of people conclude a certain belief system to be true, while many remain highly skeptical of any drawn conclusion. So many possibilities and so many "Gods" to choose from or rule out... Where does one even start? A concept that is not in question that we pride ourselves on is the ability to think logically, critically, and rationally. We have a sense of good and bad; true and false. We do not just have moral compasses but also truth compasses. We inherently seek and value truth; that is, when we are not derailed by our personal feelings, comfort, and bias. Without indisputable proof on the matter, do we have the capacity to reach the most logical conclusion as to whether or not a God or Creator exists, and if so, what kind of God or Creator it may be? In this presentation, Rick will attempt to conclude that Jesus and Christianity are the most logical answer one can come to, considering all factors. The model presented will consist of 5 premises, of which each must be acknowledged in the proper order before accepting the final conclusion. For example, if premise #1 is not even accepted, then premise #3 is not even worth disputing. People may hit a wall in different places, so this will be a good exercise to see where Rick is not being logical in making such a conclusion, or where anyone else is not being logical in rejecting the conclusion. Questions to consider: 1\. When you reflect on the sheer mathematical balance and order of the cosmos\, what initial intuitions arise about why existence exists at all? 2\. Why do some thinkers view the fine\-tuning of the universe as compelling evidence of a conscious architect\, while others see it strictly as coincidental natural law? 3\. Can you think of an instance where you felt an absolute moral certainty\, and how did that experience shape your view on whether right and wrong are objective realities? 4\. What intellectual hurdles or personal assumptions make it most difficult to impartially evaluate the validity claims of different mainstream world religions? 5\. How might cultivating a structured\, open inquiry into the origins of meaning and free will change the way we relate to one another in everyday life? \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* Tonight's event will be presented by valued member Rick P, who hosts the meetup group "Think and Drink!".
