Page to Screen Book Club: Klara And The Sun
About this event
Adults: 18 and up. Please join us for a discussion of Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro. Klara is an Artificial Friend, built with exceptional powers of observation, and spends her days in a shop window hoping to be chosen by a child. When she's finally purchased by a sickly teenage girl named Josie, Klara is thrust into a fractured, unfamiliar world where she must use everything, she's learned to understand human love, loneliness, and the lengths people will go to protect the ones they cherish. Told entirely through Klara's curious, searching perspective, this Nobel laureate's novel is a quiet, devastating meditation on what it means to be alive, and whether connection can exist between a human and something built to serve them. The film adaptation hits theaters October 23, 2026. Seeing it before our discussion is recommended but not required. Place a hold or pick up a copy at the Lincoln Belmont circulation desk.
