About this event

Event Description: Before we can plan where to go, it helps to know why we go. In this session, we're getting honest about our travel goals, what we're actually looking for when we book a trip. Is it rest? Adventure? Connection? For many of us traveling through a diasporan lens, there's often something deeper pulling at us too: a search for roots, a reckoning with history, a desire to feel connected to a place or people that came before us. This is a space to explore all of it, the practical and the personal. What we'll discuss: • What are you really trying to get out of travel? (Relaxation, adventure, culture, connection, something else?) • Is reconnecting with heritage or history a goal for you, or is that not part of why you travel? • How do your travel goals show up (or not) in the destinations you choose? • Has your "why" changed over time? Who this is for: Anyone who wants to travel more intentionally, and who's curious how identity, heritage, and personal history shape the way we move through the world. Details: This meetup will be held virtually via Google Meet. The link will be sent to RSVPs ahead of time. Come as you are, whether you know exactly why you travel or you've never really stopped to ask.
