Beyond Small Talk: A Different Kind of Social Gathering

Sometimes you just want to get out, meet new people and do something a little different with your Saturday. Beyond Small Talk is part of Soul Date is our regular series of facilitated social gatherings by C Space CIC. Each Saturday, we bring a different topic to explore together through conversations, questions, games, small experiments and shared activities. We facilitate the gathering from the beginning, so there is always something to do together and an easy way to start meeting people. What happens during the meetings? 💬 a different topic each week Every Saturday brings something different to talk about and explore. Sometimes we’ll have a discussion in pairs or small groups, sometimes all together and sometimes one question is enough to take a conversation somewhere you didn’t expect. 🎲 shared activities Depending on the week, we might try a game, a creative task or a small experiment. Nothing complicated, just different ways to explore something together, have fun and make meeting new people feel more natural. 🧘 a short meditation and attention practice Every gathering includes a short guided meditation. It’s a chance to slow down, notice yourself and the people around you, and then bring that different quality of attention back into conversation. We work with deconcentration - a simple practice of widening your attention beyond a single point of focus, ability to notice an feel more, no previous meditation experience is needed. ☕ Time to simply talk There’s also space to have a coffee, continue a conversation, laugh, listen or spend more time with someone you naturally connected with, if you feel like. You never quite know who you might meet: That’s part of what makes bringing different people together interesting. You might simply meet someone you really enjoy talking to. You might hear a completely different perspective, discover a shared interest or find someone who understands something you’re going through. A conversation might give you a new idea, introduce you to someone you wouldn’t normally meet or open up an opportunity you hadn’t considered before. 👉 Sometimes a conversation is simply a good conversation, and sometimes meeting the right person at the right moment can lead somewhere you never expected. You don’t need to get prepared say, just come, join in and see who you meet. 🙌 You can be on your own, with a friend or with someone you already know. More than one Saturday: We’re creating a community people can come back to. A place where familiar faces meet new ones, conversations can continue, people bring friends, ideas get exchanged and new things can gradually emerge. You can come once or drop in from time to time, or you may find yourself becoming part of a group of people you enjoy coming back to. And if at some point you feel like exploring further, there is more around the community. from online gatherings and courses to deeper experiential events and retreats.
