Hike: Discovery Bay to Poi O (via Mui Wo) Difficulty Level: 3 out of 5 Distance: 17 km (approximate) Time: 5+ hours (approximate) Description: This hike kicks off from Discovery Bay Pier on Lantau Island and takes us on a scenic adventure past the lovely Silvermine Waterfalls and reservoir as we head toward Mui Wo Pier. If you’re feeling satisfied at that point, you’re welcome to call it a day and head off—it’s a perfect midway exit. For those up for more, we’ll keep the good times rolling and continue on to Pui O. This is a Level 3 out of 5 hike covering about 17 km, with our highest point reaching 244 meters, so a brisk pace is expected—just a heads-up that we won’t be able to pause for long stretches to regroup. Come prepared, bring your energy, and let’s enjoy a fantastic day out on the trails! Highlight: At the midway point, we’ll have the chance to check out a local bakery for some yummy baked goods. There’s also a grocery store and a few restaurants nearby, so it’s a great spot to refuel and relax—we’ll take a 30–45 minute break here before continuing on our way! What to bring: • 3-4 liters of water (no exceptions) • Snacks to eat along the way (sandwich, fruits, nuts, etc) (no exceptions) • Hiking shoes with good support • Sunglasses • Headgear (cap/hat) • Sunscreen • Bug Spray • In case of Rain: plan accordingly Toilets: You’ll find toilets at the piers, on the ferries, and at the start and end of the hike.
