Closing the Red Line Loop!
About this event
Metro's Red Line is the only of the system's six lines to begin and end in the same jurisdiction (Maryland's Montgomery County), with the two termini enticingly close! Let's close that loop by using Montgomery County's regional bus line--Ride-On--to travel from one end of the line to the other. Our group will gather on the Red Line level of Metro Center, at the end of the corridor (inside the turnstiles) that has an entrance to Macy's department store. We'll take the Red Line north to Shady Grove (about a 40 minute trip); take a few minutes to backtrack to the second-to-last stop in Rockville (because that's where the bus is); take the Ride-On bus 49 to the Glenmont Metro station (25 minutes); then ride south on the Red Line to return in triumph to Metro Center (35 minutes). We'll eat a late lunch--and compare notes on our adventure--at the Potbelly Sandwich shop just outside Metro Center's 12th and F Streets entrance. Hope you all can come!
