ADHD & Money: Building a Healthier Relationship with Your Finances
About this event
Money can be complicated for anyone, but ADHD can add another layer. It isn't just about impulsive spending. ADHD can affect how we plan for the future, manage bills and expenses, respond to financial stress, and make decisions about money in the moment. For our October Adults with ADHD Educational Group, we're joined by Maren Londahl-Smidt, LCSW, LCAS, a therapist, speaker, and ADHD-informed money coach, for a practical conversation about ADHD and money management. Together, we'll explore: • ADHD beyond impulsive spending: How time blindness, emotional regulation, overwhelm and executive functioning can affect financial decisions. • Why earning more doesn't always solve the problem: Understanding why someone can have a good income and still feel financially out of control. • The feast-or-famine money cycle: Why strict budgeting followed by overspending can become a pattern — and how to start changing it. • ADHD-friendly money systems: Practical guardrails such as automation, separate accounts, spending limits and other systems that reduce the need to rely on willpower. • Finding your financial strengths: Looking at the ways ADHD traits can also bring strengths to money, work and entrepreneurship. 📅 Wednesday, October 21, 2026 🕔 5:00 PM ET 💻 Online 🎟️ Free We'll also talk about the additional challenges ADHD can create for people who are self-employed or running a business, and where to start if financial stress or shame has become overwhelming.
