About this event

Adults (18+), Older Adults. Join us on the following Monday afternoons to discuss books in a friendly and social atmosphere: September 14th, October 19th, November 9th, and December 14th. This month we will be reading and discussing Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe. Empire of Pain by Patrick Radden Keefe is a gripping nonfiction account of the Sackler family, whose immense wealth and influence were built through Purdue Pharma and the marketing of OxyContin. Blending investigative journalism, family saga, and social history, the book explores the rise of a powerful dynasty and its central role in the opioid crisis. This thought-provoking read raises important questions about corporate responsibility, wealth, power, and accountability. Participants can borrow a copy of the book from the Woodside Square branch upon registration.
