Read to a Therapy Dog

About this event

Kids: 6 to 13 years, Preschoolers: 3 to 5 years. Stop by and read to Ellie, a certified therapy dog! Dogs don't mind if you make any mistakes; they just love spending time with you. Reading to a dog can help build a reader's confidence and encourage reluctant readers. For kids ages 3 to 13. Alliance of Therapy Dogs is an international registry of certified therapy dog teams. ATD provides testing, certification, registration, support, and insurance for members who volunteer with their dogs in animal-assisted activities. Their objective is to form a network of caring individuals and their special dogs who are willing to share smiles and joy with people, young and old alike. How to Attend A sign up sheet will be at the information desk. 10 minute slots will be available for sign up. Drop ins are welcome, though a spot cannot be guaranteed without a sign up. We will have a variety of books for kids to choose from, or kids are welcome to bring their own from home! Ellie's handler will be present with the dog throughout the event.
