About this event

All Adults, College Students, Older Adults, Young Adults (Ages 20-34). Join the Jamaica Plain Branch’s new Documentary Club to watch Cropsey (2009 | Rated R | 1 hour 24 minutes) a spine-tingling exploration of urban legends and what happens when the truth is scarier than fiction. A discussion will follow the film. About the Film : Growing up on Staten Island, filmmakers Joshua Zeman and Barbara Brancaccio had often heard the urban legend of "Cropsey." It was a cautionary tale invented to keep children out of the abandoned buildings that remained of the nearby Willowbrook Institution. But in 1987, a string of child abductions rocks their quiet community. For Zeman, Brancaccio, and the other kids of Staten Island, their urban legend became real.
