Designing for the Age of Super Aging: The Next Frontier in Human-Centered Design
About this event
Older Adults. Join us for the next in-person Living Well, Ending Well program in partnership with Boston Village! People are living longer than ever before. But are our homes, technologies, healthcare systems, and everyday products designed for a world where living into our 90s is becoming increasingly common. Join Boston College design professor Sunand Bhattacharya for an engaging talk exploring how human-centered and inclusive design can help create longer, better lives for individuals, families, caregivers, and communities. Through stories, real-world examples, and emerging innovations, discover why designing for super aging may be one of society's next great design challenges. Sunand Bhattacharya is a learning architect, industrial designer, and educator who serves as Associate Vice Provost for Design and Innovation Strategies at Boston College and Professor of the Practice in the School of Social Work. He advances design as connective tissue—bringing together people, disciplines, and ideas to catalyze a culture of ethical design and innovation. Bhattacharya also spearheaded the vision and development of Boston College’s human-centered engineering program, leading the cross-disciplinary team that brought it to launch in 2021. Sunand Bhattacharya is speaking as a part of Boston Village's 25th Anniversary Speaker Series titled Aging in Place: Living Your Best Life @ Home. This program is in-person, free, and open to the public. Registration is required.
