Storytelling: "On the Corner"
About this event
Older Adults. Storytelling is a powerful and creative way to find meaning from an experience in your life. As we share or hear a true heartfelt story, whether it’s uplifting, poignant, or funny, tellers and listeners connect––because our stories help us relate to the humanity of others—and it's fun! This is a four-part program where Linda will cover the basics of storytelling–– how to develop a compelling narrative arc and create a performance style that results in a story that listeners will enjoy and remember. Participants learn how to craft a story in class, practice, and get feedback from fellow students and the instructor. Participants will be encouraged to spend time outside of class developing and practicing their story. The theme for this program is "On the Corner"; you do not need to have a story in mind––Linda will help you think of one! What does “the corner” represent for you: a place, a choice, a boundary, a perspective, or something just out of sight. Programming at the Boston Public Library is funded through private support.
