Exploring the Sky October 17 in Rock Creek Park
About this event
A great chance to see Saturn and its rings, and the moon half-lit, with your own eyes, without driving for hours into the countryside! Members and friends of National Capital Astronomers will bring out home made and commercial telescopes of various types for people to look at those targets and many others. The weather forecast looks quite favorable! Scopes will be set up in the field. Bring your own scope, if you like, whether you know how to use it or not. The nearby Creek National Park Nature Center and Planetarium is unfortunately still closed for repairs, so this month there will not be a planetarium show right beforehand. PS: NCA, in conjunction with the National Park Service has been holding this event every month, weather permitting, since 1948, right here in the Nation's Capital! PPS: The photo is from a Sidewalk Astronomy event at a different location.
