About this event

Adults (Ages 24 to 49), Kids (Ages 6 to 8), New Adults (Ages 19 to 23), Older Adults (Ages 50+), Teens (Ages 12 to 18), Tweens (Ages 9 to 11). Compete in an official chess tournament! Winners will be awarded chess medals. Meet other chess players and enjoy free snacks provided by the Friends of the Covington Library. Sponsored by Friends of Covington Library and Washington Chess Federation. Open to all ages. All ratings and experience levels welcome. Space is limited. Registration required. Online registration deadline Friday, August 7, 5pm. No on-site registration. Scroll down to find "Covington Library Chess Tournament". Sign in: 12:45-1pm. Rounds: 1:30pm, 2:30pm, 3:30pm, 4:30pm. Awards ~ 5:30pm. Format: A four-round, G/25; +5 Swiss chess tournament in two sections: Open & Casual U600 Entry Fee: Free! Max of 40 total players; please register early. Prizes: Chess medals awarded to the top finishing players in each section. Rating: NWSRS rated; no memberships required. Equipment: All chess equipment (boards, sets, clocks, pencils, notation sheets, etc.) is provided. Reasonable accommodation for people with disabilities is available by request.
