About this event

Directed by Roman Polanski • Starring Mia Farrow & John Cassavetes Our journey through the horrors of the 1960s continues! 👻 For our third screening, The Screening Room returns to New York City for one of the most influential and unsettling psychological horror films ever made. When Rosemary Woodhouse and her ambitious actor husband, Guy, move into a grand Manhattan apartment building, their seemingly idyllic new life takes a disturbing turn. Their eccentric elderly neighbors become increasingly involved in their lives, and when Rosemary becomes pregnant, a series of strange events leaves her questioning everyone around her—including her own husband. Based on Ira Levin’s bestselling novel, Rosemary’s Baby (1968) is a masterclass in psychological horror, using ordinary domestic spaces, social expectations, isolation, and creeping paranoia to create an atmosphere of extraordinary dread. Like our first screening, The Innocents (1961), Rosemary’s Baby explores the terrifying uncertainty of perception and the consequences of not being believed.
