About this event

NOTE -EARLIER START FROM SUMMER HILL Meet at the Lackey St fountain in Summer Hill at 7.50 for an 8.00am departure to the Oxford St mall, where we will stop at approx. 9.20 in the mall at the entrance of the Bondi Junction train station. ALTERNATIVELY meet us at about 9.20 am to start your ride at the Oxford St Mall outside the train station. (Please indicate in COMMENTS if you are starting at Bondi Junction) At about 9.30 am - we'll leave the Oxford St mall via Waverley St and Bondi road for 3.5klms (which can be busy but is downhill and traffic is usually slow due to the many traffic lights). We'll go to the main venue of Sculpture by the Sea at Marks Park, between North Bondi and Tamarama. where we'll park and lock our bikes (there is an info stall, sculptures, cafe and toilets there). Then put on your walking shoes to walk south for about 2 klms to the end of the sculpture trail at Tamarama (BRING A HAT AND WATER). Return to Marks Park, get our bikes then on to Bondi Beach and meander along the foreshore carpark to North Bondi, on to Ben Buckler point and uphill to Dover Heights (on a steady uphill on an at times busy road - need to be careful here), along the cliff tops on back streets and downhill to Neilson Park past Kincoppal/Rose Bay Convent for a coffee at the Neilson Park kiosk (plus more toilets). Have a swim here if you want. Then via Parsley Bay, a ride through the National Park to Camp Cove and back to Watsons Bay for another coffee &/or a light lunch at the library cafe &/or another swim in the harbour side enclosure. The ride officially finishes there. Suggest you hop on a ferry back to Circular Quay so bring your Opal card (or ride back if you prefer). (NB a bit of bike carrying needed to get on the ferry). Bring sun hat, sunblock, water, comfortable walking shoes, swimmers and towel. All usual conditions apply, ie helmet, pump, spare tube, tools and also a good bike lock for when we walk the sculpture trail. Approx distance 40klms (or 25 klms if you start from Oxford St mall at Bondi Junction). NB there are HILLS and traffic at times. Not for beginners or inexperienced riders. Estimated to take over 4 hours depending on walking, cafe stops and swimming time. If its raining heavily on the day the ride will be cancelled. Tim 0408 691 541
