AWS BuildForward: The Agent, the Sensei, and the Cloud
About this event
In this event, the attendees are expected to: 1. Understand Cloud Computing Basics Gain foundational knowledge of cloud computing concepts, AWS architectural principles, and emerging cloud trends, including how models, APIs, and agents work together in modern applications. Understand the role of Amazon Web Services (AWS) as the world’s leading cloud platform provider and the purpose of its core services, including Amazon SageMaker. 1. Understand AWS and its Services Learn to use core AWS services through guided activities and the deployment of foundational cloud solutions, such as a trained model served as an API. Learn about cloud and AI career pathways, the skills they require, and opportunities for students through invited resource speakers. 1. Develop Curiosity for Continuous Learning Build interest and confidence to further explore cloud computing, AWS, and other technologies. 1. A working understanding of deep learning and CNNs. They can explain in plain language how a neural network learns from examples and how a CNN finds patterns in images, from edges up to ships. 1. A trained ship-detection model of their own. They will have built, trained, and tested a CNN in PyTorch on a free Kaggle notebook (with Amazon SageMaker as an optional environment), and used it to find and box ships in full satellite scenes. 1. The skills to evaluate and extend their work. They can judge a model with precision and recall instead of accuracy alone, and know where to go next, such as full RGB color, data augmentation, deploying to a SageMaker endpoint, or labeling local Philippine imagery. \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* WORKSHOP REQUIREMENTS To ensure a smooth hands-on learning experience, participants are required to prepare the following before attending the workshop: 1\. Hardware: \*A laptop with at least 4GB of RAM • At least 500 MB of available storage 2\. Software: • Any modern web browser installed (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or equivalent) \*No local installation of Python or PyTorch is needed, since the notebooks run in the browser on Kaggle • Visual Studio Code (VS Code) or any text editor installed (optional, for viewing or editing code outside the notebook) 3\. Software: \*Kaggle account (participants are required to create and verify their own free Kaggle accounts prior to the workshop, since GPU access in notebooks may require phone verification) • Link: Kaggle: The World's AI Proving Ground (https://www.kaggle.com/) \*Optional: AWS Account - > Amazon Sagemaker • Link: AWS Management Console (https://aws.amazon.com/console/) 4\. Internet Connection: \*A stable internet connection is required, since all work is done in cloud notebooks.
