About this event

Adult. This guided nature walk invites you to slow down, observe, and connect with the living world through the practice of phenology, the study of seasonal changes in nature. Beginning at Strathcona Public Library, we’ll explore local nature resources, enjoy a reflective walk to Riverlot 11 Park, spend time observing the landscape, and gather to share insights and gratitude for the land before returning to the library. Please bring close toed shoes, hat, water, and weather-appropriate clothing and gear. In addition, you may bring binoculars, magnifying glass, camera, journal, drawing supplies, or whatever tools support your own learning / note-taking. Nathan Binnema is a life-long Edmontonian, biophile and bibliophile. He engages in a phenology practice year round, paying attention to seasonal changes in the local ecology in Mill Creek Ravine. EPL's annual How To Festival is a chance to learn something new from someone who already knows how to do it. A variety of experts from professionals to enthusiasts will share their skills with you.
