About this event

Children (Ages 6-12), Families, Grades 5-8, Tweens (Ages 9-12). Children ages 8 and older, along with their families, are invited to join the Nigerian Authors Book Club for Children! Each month, we read and discuss a book written by an author from Nigeria or the African diaspora. Our book for October will be Ikenga by acclaimed author Nnedi Okorafor. Taking inspiration from Igbo mythology, this novel follows Nnamdi, a young boy living in the Nigerian town of Kaleria. There are many dangerous criminals in Kaleria, but they meet their match after Nnamdi gains superhuman powers from a small Ikenga figurine. We will read chapters 1-11 for October, and finish the book in November. This event will be held virtually on Zoom. For access to the Zoom room, please email Ritse Adefolalu at: [email protected] For more information about the book club, please contact Bolade Owolewa at (617) 480-1266. Accessibility Notice: We strive to make our events accessible. To request a disability accommodation and/or language services, contact the department listed in the "Contact Info" pane on the right. Please allow at least two weeks to arrange accommodation.
