About this event

The Humanist Association of Toronto http://www.humanisttoronto.ca/ Every Saturday we meet on Zoom to discuss a topic decided upon the previous week. These are topics of humanist interest, from a humanist perspective. The topic of the discussion will be decided in a prior meeting, usually two weeks in advance. This week’s topic is: How Can we GROW Humanism? Introduced by Danny DiPasquale How Can We Grow Humanism? Introduced by Danny DiPasquale Objective: To shine light on humanist principles in a way that will appeal to: • Marginalized groups • People who question their faith • People looking for community without tying faith into it According to statistics, in Canada at least 35% are not affiliated with organized religion. Just above 25% in the United States. If so many are not attending church....what are they doing? Why are they not tied into humanism? Notes on ways to grow humanism: • Partner up with similar organizations who have similar goals • Look at organized religion • Take the "god thing" out of Abrahamic religion • Look at the good the Roman Catholic church does in the community but also the harm • Where do they fall short and are they involved in questionable behavior? • How much does dogma and other teachings (sharia) in non secular Islamic countries cause strife amongst their people? • How can humanism be an option? Meet our diverse group, trade perspectives in a free and open forum and learn from others as they learn from you! BTW: don't be concerned if there are not many RSVP’s. Many HAT members attend regularly but don’t sign up on Meetup. Our online meetings have been very popular with 20-30 attendees. Our Website (http://www.humanisttoronto.ca/)
