About this event

Welcome to our World Cultures series. Bangkok is home to people from many different countries, and we’d love to create a welcoming space where anyone can come together to share, learn, and appreciate each other's cultures and traditions that make our world so beautifully diverse. What Is it About? This Halloween, we’re doing something a little different — we’re taking over the cinema! Join us if you like the idea of a whole squad of monsters, villains, and characters rolling up to watch a movie on the big screen together! Go all out or come as you are! No costume? You’re automatically our VIP civilian or captured hostage for the evening. We’ll grab popcorn and kick off Halloween evening with cozy company before your night begins. For those who are still packed with energy afterward, the adventures don't have to end here! ☞ Did You Know? Halloween has roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (sow-in), which marked the end of the harvest season and the start of winter. It was traditionally seen as a transitional time when the boundary between the living and the spirit world was especially thin. People wore costumes, lit bonfires, and shared food as part of the celebrations. Over time, it also became associated with traditions such as souling and guising (going door-to-door offering prayers, songs, jokes, or performances in exchange for treats or get pranked on) which inspire the modern tradition of trick-or-treating! Since it isn't a native tradition here, we're creating our own little community version! What To Expect 🎭 Theme: Costumes are encouraged but never required! Go all out, wear a little spooky accessory, or come in your everyday civilian outfit. It's all about having fun together. 🍭 Trick-or-Treat: When you arrive, find the host and say “trick or treat” for a little treat or try a fun trick on us! You're also welcome to bring your favorite sweets to share with the group. 🎥 Snacks & Cinema: Grab your favorite cinema snacks and enjoy a movie on the big screen with fellow community members. Personal expenses are at each participant's own cost. 📸 Spooky Snaps: If you'd like, join us for group photos to remember our Halloween outing. 👥 Monster Mingling: Meet attendees, get to know one another, and see where the Halloween night takes you afterward! Who Is It For? ❉ Anyone who'd like to celebrate Halloween together ❉ Movie lovers, Halloween fans, and curious newcomers ❉ Anyone looking for friendly company before heading to late-night events Everyone is welcome, whether you're coming alone or bringing a friend! Come as you are, dress up if you dare, and let's make this Halloween a memorable one together! 🌍🎃
