Walk & Talk: Housing Preview for Seniors
About this event
Older Adults. Want to be an early bird and prepare for the next step in your housing journey? Is it getting harder to bring groceries up with no elevator in your building? Is your rent rising? Is your space getting more unruly to maintain? Allston Brighton Community Development Corporation (ABCDC) is building 49 affordable, independent-living apartment units and a community space designed for seniors at 279 North Harvard Avenue, where the former Hill Memorial Baptist Church was. Join your neighbor Joanna Lin to learn more about what living at 279 North Harvard Avenue will look like and get on ABCDC’s early bird list for housing application support. Feel free to join at any point in the programming. Schedule: 10:30 am-11:00 am — We’ll meet outside the Honan-Allston Library for a short stroll along North Harvard Avenue, passing by the former Hill Memorial Baptist Church. This is a good excuse to go outside and get to know your neighbors!11:00 am-11:30 am — We will go inside to the Honan-Allston Branch's Community Room to screen a short film with a brief history of the Hill Memorial Baptist Church and what the new development will look like, followed by some words about our senior housing application support program and a Q&A session. Refreshments will be provided.LANGUAGE: Relevant written materials in Mandarin Chinese (普通话), Cantonese (廣州話), Spanish (Español), Russian (Русский язык), Haitian-Creole (Lang Kreyòl Ayisyen an) and Bangla (বাংলা ভাষা) will be provided.
