About this event

Situated in Mirs Bay, Tung Ping Chau is part of the Northeast New Territories Sedimentary Rock Region within the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark. As the only island in Hong Kong formed entirely from sedimentary shale rock, it boasts the territory's youngest geological formations and striking, finely laminated rock layers. The Highlights: • Geological Marvels: Marvel at world-famous coastal landforms including Kang Lau Shek, Lung Lok Shui, and Cham Keng Chau. • Abundant Wildlife: Walk the easy 6 km country trail—a flat, gentle circuit overgrown with wild orchids, mint, and morning glory. • Cultural Heritage: Visit the historic Tin Hau Temple (built in 1765), located within a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). During the trip, we will explore the island's flora and fauna, take a dip in the clear waters at Cheung Sha Wan, and admire the geological coastline.
