Emptiness & Compassion in Theravada & Mahayana Buddhism
About this event
🪷 City weekend on Emptiness and Compassion For this weekend you need to register via our website (see below for link) How does understanding emptiness support unconditional care? Join us in Amsterdam for a weekend of meditation, teachings and conversation. On Saturday we explore the Theravāda view that sustainable care rests on understanding the empty, selfless nature of beings, and how wisdom gives us the balance to practise the four immeasurables (equanimity, appreciative joy, loving-kindness and compassion) while honestly acknowledging our limitations. On Sunday we turn to the Mahāyāna perspective, where insight into emptiness becomes the ground for bodhicitta and the highest basis for ethical life. 📅 14–15 November 2026 📍 Maitreya Instituut Amsterdam With ample time for questions and discussion, and lunch together. On Saturday, Ven. Gendun also teaches the regular IDMT class as part of the weekend. More info and registration: https://www.maitreya.nl/nl/programma/city-weekend-on-emptiness-and-compassion
