Philosophy, Science, and the Big Questions
About this event
Philosophy, Science, and the Big Questions with Felipe Ribeiro What can science tell us about the world, and what questions require us to look beyond facts and measurements? Throughout history, human beings have sought to understand the nature of reality, the origins of the universe, and our place within it. Science has expanded our knowledge in remarkable ways, helping us discover how many things work. Yet some of our deepest questions remain: What is consciousness? What does it mean to know something? How should we live, and what gives life meaning? Philosophy and science share a fundamental impulse: the desire to understand. While they approach questions in different ways, both invite us to observe, investigate, question assumptions, and remain open to discovery. In this talk, we will explore the relationship between philosophical inquiry and scientific knowledge, reflecting on some of the great questions that continue to challenge and inspire the human mind. Rather than seeking quick or definitive answers, we will consider how asking better questions can deepen our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Join us for an evening of curiosity, reflection, and discovery as we explore the big questions that have accompanied humanity across time, and consider why they still matter today. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- 8h00 PM to 9h00 PM - Talk (Online) \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- TIMEZONES For members in the United States: 5:00 PM — Pacific Time 6:00 PM — Mountain Time 7:00 PM — Central Time 8:00 PM — Eastern Time
