Join us for weekly discussions of G. W. F. Hegel's 1807 dialectical quest through consciousness and subjectivity to reason and absolute knowledge, The Phenomenology of Spirit. Required reading for this meeting: B. Self Consciousness - IV. Independence & Dependence of Self-Consciousness: Lordship & Bondage (Pages 111-119) - A.V. Miller edition I plan to use the A.V. Miller edition though you can use a different edition. The Phenomenology is a difficult text and I highly recommend to read along side Hegel (though not required) the accessible secondary lit, “The Logic of Desire” by Peter Kavage.
