GHOST MONTH IS COMING. Let’s celebrate Taiwan culture! What is GHOST MONTH? According to a Taoist saying, the Mid-summer Ghost Festival originated from birthday of the Earth God on July 15 in the lunar calendar, when the Earth God in charge of hell got a whim of compassion, issued an amnesty decree so hell released many ghost prisoners. From the first day of the seventh lunar month, souls and ghosts are able to return to this world and accept the ritual bestowed food for one month, to stir their hearts to the Tao. We will gather to have dinner in Keelung MiaoKou Night Market, watch the parade and watch the water lantern in BADOUZI HARBOR. There are a lot of bus from Badouzi to come back to Taipei before 01.00 am. WHAT IS WATER LANTERN? The water lantern ceremony is a major ritual during Taiwan's Ghost Month (the seventh lunar month). People light paper lanterns shaped like little houses, write their family or clan names on them, and float them on the ocean or rivers. This guides wandering spirits and ghosts of people lost at sea to land for food offerings and prayers. 16.30-16.45 : waiting in platform 4A/B NUMBER 8/9 16.45-17.28 : taking local train number 1218 17.30-17.50 : walking to night market 18.00-19.00 : dinner in the temple night market 19.00-19.30 : go to find the spot to watch parade 19.30-22.00 : watching parade 22.00-23.00 : line up to bus stop to go to Badouzi 23.00-23.30 : watching water lantern If you are scared and believe in ghost, it’s better not going because this time we watch the priest to deliver the ghost to the ocean. 23.00-00.00 : line up to bus station in front of the water lantern place. There are 3 destinations. 1.Yuanshan Transfer Station 2.Zhongxiao Dunhua / Zhongxiao Fuxing MRT Station 3.Taipei City Hall Bus Station (MRT City Hall Station). 00.00-01.00 : taking bus to Taipei WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING? 1. Water 1 L and snack 2. Easy card at least you have money 200 NTD inside 3. Mat or small chair for watching parade EXPENSES 1. Train to Keelung 62 NTD 2. Bus to taipei 80 - 100 NTD 3.
