Our sessions are called "Kominka Mokumoku-kai" (pronounced ko-min-ka mo-ku-mo-ku-kai). A mokumoku-kai is a popular style of gathering in Japan's tech community, where people get together and work on their own tasks. "Kominka" means an old Japanese house. Ours is relaxed: chatting while you work is welcome. ■ What is a "Nagaya"? A nagaya is a traditional Japanese row house: several homes built side by side in one long wooden building, sharing their walls. Many nagaya were built in Osaka in the past, and many still remain in the city today. UTAJIMA NOOK is one unit of a nagaya built nearly 100 years ago, with wooden pillars, sliding doors and tatami rooms. Venue: UTAJIMA NOOK, 3-3-43 Utajima, Nishiyodogawa-ku, Osaka. 5-minute walk from Exit 4a, Mitejima Station (JR Tozai Line)
