Ashburton – Gardiners Creek Trail It’s time we explored a new trail! So, this week we are heading to Ashburton and will walk the Anniversary and Gardiners Creek Trails Both these trails extend for miles, but we will take a section of each to explore and exercise. We walk as far as Glen Iris Wetlands, then loop back on the same trail. Coffee will be at Miss Ash Café back at the start. Start: We’ll meet where the Anniversary Trail crosses High Street, Ashburton. Assemble outside the Joe Frank café next to the railway line. Start time: 9.00 AM Parking: There is plenty of parking behind the shops in High Street. The Walk: The walk follows the Anniversary Trail for 1.5 km then picks up the Gardiners Creek Trail and follows the creek for about another 1.5 km. We’ll walk as far as Glen Iris Wetlands, then return the same way to the start point. Total distance: 6.0 km. (approx.) Time: Allow 2.0 hours for the walk, plus half hour for coffee. Total 2.5 hours. Difficulty: Easy Toilets: At the café and in the carpark at rear of shops. Coffee: Miss Ash Café on High Street. We have a booking for upstairs.
