About this event

Adults (18+), Teens (13-17), Younger Adults (18-24). Chainmail, the ancient art of linking metal rings together in a chain or mesh weave, has a long history within cultural practices from all over the world. These days you might not need a piece of armour to protect yourself during a swordfight, but you still might want to know how to make some - whether for yourself or to deck out a favourite toy! Or, maybe you want to make some unique jewelry: bracelets, necklaces, or earrings. Why not both? Registration for both sessions is required: 1st session, Nov 7: Basics! Opening and closing rings, Japanese 1-in-1, 2-in-2, or 3-in-3 chain weave, attaching clasps. Make a bracelet or a short necklace. 2nd session, Nov 21: Pick 1 option - barrel or box chain weave, or 4-1 European mesh weave. Make a bracelet, a short necklace, or a base for a larger piece. Please note that chainmail requires repetitive hand motions, gripping, and close visual attention to detail. These sessions are oriented towards beginners but more advanced learners are also welcome.
