About this event

NB: The lecture will be delivered via zoom, but the audience will be able to attend via zoom or in-person in London, for a pre-festive get-together. Islamic Philosophy and the Contemporary World: Learning to Think and Live Together What can Islamic philosophy offer the world today? Beyond its historical and intellectual significance, Islamic philosophy offers rich resources for reflecting on some of the most pressing questions of our time, including how we understand ourselves, engage with different perspectives, and communicate across cultural and intellectual divides. Drawing on the vision behind the special issue of Philosophy Now on Islamic philosophy (issue 173 (https://philosophynow.org/issues#magazine_173)), this talk will explore why these traditions remain relevant today and how studying them can open up new possibilities for mutual understanding and meaningful dialogue. AmirAli Maleki (born 2002) is the Islamic Philosophy Editor at Philosophy Now (https://philosophynow.org/), where he works to bring Islamic philosophical traditions to a wider audience and explore their relevance to contemporary philosophical questions.
