About this event

🌿 Come along for a beautiful scenic hike through Plenty Gorge National Park, featuring the stunning Blue Lake! Tucked away just behind suburbia, Plenty Gorge offers a surprisingly rugged and picturesque escape into nature. Our walk takes us through a landscape of river red gums, golden wattles and winding bushland trails. The highlight of the hike is the spectacular Blue Lake, a former quarry that has transformed into a tranquil oasis. It's the perfect spot to take in the scenery, enjoy a short break and perhaps spot some local birdlife. The trail offers plenty of variety, with undulating terrain, steep gravelly sections and narrow tracks that may require some light scrambling. Some cliff-side sections may be diverted for safety, and descents can become slippery in wet conditions. This is a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise and connect with fellow hiking enthusiasts! 🥾 EVENT DETAILS Meeting time: 8:50am for a 9:00am start Please arrive on time so we can begin promptly. If you're someone who tends to run a little late, please allow extra time for your journey. If anything unexpected happens along the way, please send a message through the app. 🍽️ Optional Lunch For those interested, we'll head to Armanii's at Uni Hill after the walk for a well-deserved lunch and some social time. Please let me know if you'd like to join us! 📍 MEETING POINT Intersection of Leahy Drive and Clovemont Way, Bundoora. Enter "1 Leahy Drive, Bundoora" into Google Maps. Street parking is available. 🏃 FITNESS LEVEL A good level of fitness is required. We'll be walking at a moderately fast pace of approximately 5 km/h, with one short snack and toilet break. Please be comfortable walking on uneven terrain, including gravelly paths, steep sections and narrow bush tracks. 🎒 WHAT TO BRING • Hiking shoes or sturdy boots with good grip • At least 2 litres of water (more if the weather is hot) • Packed lunch and snacks • Weather-appropriate clothing • Small personal first aid kit 🌞 A FEW EXTRA TIPS • Check the weather forecast before heading out. • Wear sunscreen and a hat. • Bring walking poles if you prefer extra stability on steep descents. • Please ensure you have enough water and snacks to keep you energised throughout the walk. Looking forward to a great day exploring the beautiful Plenty Gorge and Blue Lake with everyone!
